BLACK IS FOREVER: THE MONOCHROMATIC WORK OF LOUISE NEVELSON

We love the color black and we’re not the only ones. Artist Louise Nevelson spent a large part of her career working exclusively in black. It started as a practice in discipline by painting with a limited palette but she didn’t stop there. “I fell in love with black, it contained all color…it wasn’t a negation of color” said Nevelson. “It creates harmony and doesn’t intrude on the emotions.” Black is associated with mystery, power, elegance and formality. Her work embodies the qualities of the color, rich with drama and sophistication. Louise never got bored with black and we suspect we won’t either!
