After a brief hiatus recovering from our travels and all the amazing holiday and new year's food we ate, we are finally back in the swing of things in Los Angeles. This pretty picnic basket invitation from Charleston, South Carolina is a very welcoming greeting to 2012 indeed! Designed and printed by Sideshow Press in South Carolina on a pony sized 1926 letterpress, the invitations were created for a private dinner gathering of the finest chefs in the Charleston area. We love the inventiveness of this invitation, but what's even better is that Sideshow Press is a collaboration of a few women who love what they do and are passionate about great design. Sounds familiar! Happy 2012 everyone!

Dutch cosmetics brand Dr van der Hoog recently decided to radically reposition their brand with some new packaging. Creative network nu:amsterdam created the identity for the product line, which has over 60 different items (and 60 different packages!) We love what they ended up with - it's young, fresh, and lovely.

We love the diverse complexity ofLouise Fili's branding and food package design. Her work is detailed, intricate, and overwhelmingly inspiring. Below are some of our favorite works.

We are loving the vintage branding of the Ralph Lauren Polo collection. The depth of the brand woven through each hangtag though deeply complex and diverse graphics. Individually, each hang tag tells the brand story, and paints a picture of the lifestyle you are buying into when purchasing a pair of slim fit Polo Jeans.
The brand is also carried out on the Rugged Icon section of the main website.

M / Mink perfume is a collaboration between BYREDO fragrance house and creative team M/M (Paris). The idea for the fragrance comes from a block of solid ink used for traditional calligraphy in ancient cultures. Although we like and understand the inspiration for the branding, we think that the use of the ink blot over the ad campaign photography doesn't translate. The ink leaves to many questions in the air, and is not clearly intentional. It masks the original composition, and is overall too heavy handed.

We love the inspiration for this package design. The unique shapes and lines evoke a timeless classic silhouette that is thoroughly emphasized in the branding and images used in the accompanying advertising campaign.
